Coppice Crafts, Coppicing and Hedge Laying
5th to 9th November 2008

£200 for 5 days or £50 per day   Book a place

This course will be held at various locations around the Malvern Hills

A five day course which will show you how to restore and cut coppice correctly, process the materials and learn what to do with them. It will cover hurdle making, charcoal making, green wood carving, hedge laying and many other traditional and interesting aspects of this ancient craft such as besom brooms, spar making, gypsy flowers and stick whistles. You do not have to attend the whole 5 days, you can just attend the days that interest you the most.

This course will be held in the meadow at Caves Folly Nurseries, Colwall Green, near Malvern. For accommodation go to www.cavesfolly.com

Learn to make a variety of beautiful and natural garden products, such as willow hurdles, obelisks and trellis and explore other uses for willow in the garden. You will also learn the secrets of creating ‘living willow’ structures such as arbours and tunnels. We will discuss sourcing, gathering and storing willow and you can take away all you make to adorn your garden!
