Welcome
to the Wildwood Coppice Crafts website...
I make a
wide range of greenwood and coppice craft
products
as well as
demonstrating
and
teaching my
craft. I employ traditional methods to create
unique items from sustainable coppice materials
harvested from woodlands local to the Malvern Hills
area.
Coppicing is the sustainable management
of a variety of deciduous trees promoting the healthy growth
of the underwood in densely wooded areas. It encourages
biodiversity within woodlands allowing a variety of flora and
fauna to thrive. Trees such as hazel, ash, oak, sweet chestnut
and lime are cut down to the ground creating a stool that will
regrow time and time again. These stools are typically cut on
a 5 to 20 year cycle, depending on species and intended use of
the harvest.
